Honda to launch third-generation Jazz on 8th of July

Honda Cars is all set to launch the eagerly-anticipated third-generation premium hatch model Jazz in the country on July 8. The car manufacturer has already started adjusting its product schedule to make way for the new Jazz. It was reported in December 2014 that the car manufacturer would bring back the Jazz in July.

Jazz will give stiff competition to the Hyundai i20, which has been a runaway hit with sales of 10000 units a month and long waiting periods. The car is expected to come both with petrol and diesel engine options. As in the Amaze sedan, the car will be provided with the same 1.2-litre iVTEC and 1.5-litre iDTEC mills. It is expected that the new Jazz will cut down some market of the segment leader Maruti Swift.

According to a company source, "Honda Cars stockyard in Greater Noida having a capacity of 5,500 units is packed with the Mobilio and Amaze as there is a slide in demand for these two models... Some of these cars have also been shifted to Tapukara plant." It was also said that approximately 7000 to 8000 units of the two car models were lying at the two production plants.

According to Jnaneshwar Sen, Senior Vice President for sales and marketing at Honda Cars India, "This is an exercise to create production capacity for the upcoming model Jazz and also to compensate the summer production shutdown coming up this month."

The company shuts down its production process for a week twice every year. Typically scheduled once in summer and winter, this is the time when no production occurs at the plants. The Jazz hatch model was first launched in the country in 2009. Initially, it was tagged at Rs. 7.10 to 7.56 lakhs for the petrol model. However, the price tag was considered a tad higher and the refreshed version was launched in 2011 with an ex-showroom price of Rs 5.5 to 6.5 lakhs.
